National Bird Day

Amy Ross sketches a mural to raise awareness about National Bird Day.Origins
National Bird Day began in 2005 or 2006 to celebrate the freedom and beauty of our country's wild birds, and to reflect upon how birds held in captivity are treated. Bird Day was created to inform people about how birds in captivity are treated, even under the best conditions. These birds in captivity still have all of their natural instincts, but are unable to use them because they are shipped off into illegal and legal bird trades around the world.
